Hello, I'm Lorn Stanners

Lorn Stanners

Speaker / Accountant / Consultant and
founding Chairman of CMAs in Public Practice

As a Certified Management Accountant, Lorn has helped thousands of clients, individuals and businesses, save money and avoid pitfalls in business and tax planning.

Clients frequently comment on Lorn's approachable style and that they are not afraid to ask him questions. Some may, however, question his offbeat sense of humour as evidenced by his personal tax seminar called "Pigs Get Fat and Hogs Get Slaughtered." Tax is a game and Lorn wants you to be the winner by using the rules of the game to your advantage!

Lorn has written numerous articles on business and taxation, been a guest expert on "A" Channel TV and seminar speaker for Investors Group, CIBC, Old Strathcona Business Association and The Business Link.

Lorn has been an active member of the Society of Management Accountants. He was the founding Chairman of CMAs in Public Practice, elected three times to the Alberta Board of Directors and has also served a national Board member. Lorn has been a mentor for other CMAs entering into public practice and in his role as a practice reviewer reviewed other member's practices.

Taking Care of Business
Processes and policies save time, money and make your business more valuable

We all carry how we work and the systems we use doing our jobs in our heads, few actually write it down. Learn how to be prepared when you get a phone call that your secretary, delivery driver or foreman will be off work for at least six weeks because they were in an accident. What are some of the practices used by successful franchises that can save you time and money?
One of the reasons franchises succeed is they have documented the processes they have found work. Anyone can make a hamburger, but if you are making thousands per day they must be consistent and so you have a recipe. Employees need three things from their employers - support, structure and challenge, having the processes in place provides the structure.
Successful businesses, large and small, have found having standard policies and procedures in place saves time and money in training staff, ensures constancy and for smaller businesses makes them more valuable when it comes time to sell them.
