Hello, I'm Jon Hall

Jon Hall

"Jon uses an interactive style with lots of hands-on
'self-discovery' methods to make his points."

Jon Hall is the Manager of Marketing and Communications for the Edmonton Real Estate Board. He manages a staff of three which manages many of the board's social and business events, two newsletters, two websites and all the media relations activities. The Board is a cooperative of 2500 real estate agents and manages the MLS® system for the Edmonton area.

In 14 years of private practice Jon described himself as a 'freelance Executive Director' and provided part-time, occasional or contract services to associations, volunteer agencies and not-for-profit groups. He is a Certified Association Manager and has two decades experience in association management. Jon has worked with the Volunteer Centre of Edmonton, NTnet Society (in Yellowknife ), Brookview Community Association, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Christian Health Association of Alberta, Canadian Alpaca Breeders Association, Hostelling International, Edmonton FreeNet, the City of Edmonton , Canadian Society of Association Executives, International Reading Association, Scouts Canada, Alberta Real Estate Association, and many other associations.

Formerly with the executive staff of Scouts Canada, Jon worked at the regional and provincial levels of the organization for ten years. He held responsibilities for adult training, public relations and program support. He provided staff support to numerous committees and took an active role in training and program development. Scouting provides the equivalent of $2.5 million worth of adult training within Alberta each year. It 'employs' 7000 adult volunteers to provide programs to 34,000 members in the province.

As a trainer, Jon uses an interactive style with lots of hands-on 'self-discovery' methods to make his points. His presentations are well received as stand alone workshops, conference/seminar sessions or as luncheon talks. Because of his specialization in association management, Jon can address almost any aspect of the field but has particular expertise in implementing Internet services, volunteer recruitment, strategic planning and communications (especially newsletters).  Jon was trained in television production and business administration at SAIT in Calgary . He has ten years of experience in writing and producing for television which he uses to enliven and support his presentations.

As a volunteer, Jon has been chairman of Edmonton FreeNet, Provincial Commissioner of Scouts Canada in Alberta, President of Scouts Canada – Northern Alberta, President of the Alberta Hostelling Association, vice-president of the Canadian Hostelling Association, chairman of the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton's Program Committee, chairman of numerous Scouts Canada committees and has held roles in other church and community organizations. He recently led a group of 68 volunteers who designed and ran a program which took 8000 youth to the Calgary Stampede.
